About

We believe that every student has the right to thrive academically and socially in Middle School. Our instructional approach is one of partnership and teamwork. In 7th and 8th grade, your child is considered to be a unique individual who is in control of his/her/their own future. We believe it is our responsibility as teachers and families to work together as a team to support and guide students throughout their middle school journey.

Mrs. Dixon  - Welcome to 7th/8th grade!  I teach enrichment RTI (Response to Intervention) and an 8th grade ELA class. I live in Cornish and hope to spend some time this summer going tubing on the river, hiking with my two dogs, and spending time with my family and friends. I hope to read a few books, and I encourage you to read this summer, too!

Mrs. Doherty - Hi There! Although I am new to the 7th/8th grade team, I am definitely not new to teaching. I am so looking forward to teaching all aspects of ELA next year with “older” students. I live in Conway, NH with my husband, and we have 3 adult children. I have lots of hobbies, but my favorite thing to do is babysit my daughter’s black lab Crew and take him swimming in the Saco!

Mrs. Guziewicz - Hello!  I am so excited to start this school year and to see the incoming 8th graders again, and to meet the new 7th grade students!  I know that my last name can be a bit tricky, so I typically go by Mrs. G.  I have an adult son, he and his wife live and work in Boston.  I also have 4 dogs that range in size from 5 pounds to 65 pounds!  I moved back to Maine in 2021 after living in several states over the last 20 years, including Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Nevada and Michigan!  In my free time, I love to kayak.  I also spend time in my art studio working with metal, wood and pottery!

Ms. Heimbach - I am looking forward to teaching 7th and 8th grade science again this year.  I enjoy all things science related, especially if I can get my hands dirty doing it.   I have two children.  One is in college and the other has already graduated.  During my free time, I enjoy doing just about anything outside, especially biking and running.  I also enjoy cooking and doing kitchen chemistry.

Mrs. Lane -  Hello 7th and 8th graders! I am excited to be working with 7th and 8th graders again this year! I have worked in this school district for many years!  I have two daughters, a granddaughter and one grandbaby on the way. I’m sure I will be very busy playing with them all summer! In my free time I enjoy reading, watching movies, going to the beach and just spending time outside in the fresh Maine air! I am looking forward to seeing you all this fall!

Mrs. Mudgett - Hello! I know the returning, now new, 8th graders, and I am excited to meet and begin to learn all about the incoming 7th graders. I have lived in the SAD55 district my entire life, graduating from SVHS in 1985. My husband and I have three grown boys, two daughter-in-laws, and three grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with family most of all, being in the out-of-doors, and doing all things outdoorsy. I have a medium size garden, 75% fruits and the rest veggies. How many veggies is that? My grandchildren love to visit my berry patches! I love to go hiking with my boys when they can. Golf is a fairly new hobby to me, something I have always wanted to do, so I am happy when I am able to go.

Ms. Ross - Hi everyone! I am excited to have new and returning 8th graders, and I look forward to meeting all the new 7th graders. I have lived in SAD 55 most of my life, graduating from Sacopee H.S. in 2011. Most of you know me as the SVMS cheerleading coach, and this coming year I will begin training to become a Maine State Cheer Official! I just completed my Master’s degree in Education, graduating from New England College in May of 2023. I have two Shih-Tzus, Max and Henry, and one cat named Lucy. I love the color pink, and ice cream is my favorite dessert! In my spare time, I love to read and knit. See you all soon! :)

Mr. Trefsger - I am excited to be returning to the 7th/8th grade team teaching social studies! I have spent many years in education in South Portland, both at the middle school and high school levels. In my time off, I enjoy playing and watching sports, the beach, reading, and movies. I have two daughters attending college and I live in South Portland. I am very much looking forward to another great school year!
